Autumn Jackets
Summer is almost over and the coldness of Autumn is slowly approaching. Personally A/W is my favourite time of the year, crispy leaves scattered everywhere, cosy knits, flushed red cheeks and snug nights in front of the fire. Whilst Summer is fun while it lasts, here in England we barely experience a 'real summer', our Summer mainly consists of pouring rain, full force winds & dull clouded skies with the odd spell of sunshine. Before every season properly begins I usually write a list of 'season essentials' inspired by trend forecasts and a few pieces that I want but sadly can't afford. So throughout the next few weeks I will be doing various posts on my Autumn Essentials!
First Essential: -The Jacket/ Coat
Many people get confused at the difference between a 'Jacket' and a 'Coat. In my eyes I consider a coat to be more casual, representing warmth and comfort. However a jacket is considered to be a little more formal and stylish, creating a sharper silhouette.
Here are a few jackets and coats in different colours, materials & lengths which would be ideal for A/W.
1. ASOS Coat With Leather Look Sleeves- £75
I absolutely love the deep red with black soft wool blend on the body of this jacket alongside the leather look sleeves. I was beginning to get sick of leather sleeves with a khaki body so this is a change and I think the materials work really well together. I especially love how on the image above they've styled the coat with a leather skirt (although it may be too cold to wear bare legs in this weather now!)
2. Glamorous Biker Zip Coat In Boucle- £65
I've recently been seeing this coat style everywhere but mainly in black with leather collars & sleeves. That's why when I came across this particular one I featured it in this post, it stands out and the colour is one of my personal favourites.
3. Topshop Heavy Crepe Biker Jacket- £125
The most expensive of the ten but by far my favourite. The colour is to die for and although being a biker jacket it's a refreshing change from the plain black leather ones everybody has in their wardrobe. The heavy fabric allows it to keep you warm throughout the next few months climate change whilst still looking stylish.
4. Topshop Fur Trim Borg Lined Parka- £78
One of the main things I love about this jacket aside from the colour, length and thickness is the fur on the trim of the hood, instead of being the cheap cotton wool type fur many stores use its super soft and silky. One thing I have to point out is that the Jacket is quite heavy meaning it may look a tad bulky however it does come with built in drawstrings at the waist meaning you won't look completely shapeless.
5. Topshop Oversized Biker Jacket- £60
This is my idea of a perfect jacket, however is probably more suited for warmer Autumn days as the material isn't very thick, but the colour and minimalism of it makes it look so much more expensive than it actually is. On the website they've styled it with white skinny jeans which together are a match made in heaven.
6. Zara Coat With Gathering On Shoulder- £99.99
I recently noticed this instore and it instantly reminded me of little miss riding hood. Its such a pretty colour and gives brightness to the dull weather. To me Zara can never do wrong with their coats and jackets, they get better every season and are mostly quite affordable alongside being good quality.
7. Zara Trench Coat With Detachable Lining- £79.99
I see a trench as a wardrobe staple and is perfect for the transition to colder, damper weather. There's the classic camel trench but recently i've noticed alot of stores introducing other colours from navy to bright yellow. Team with skinny jeans and ankle boots for a simple but on trend look.
8. Glamorous Car Coat In Monochrome Zig Zag Print- £65
This monochrome soft wool blend coat looks so cosy but so stylish, perfect with wet look skinny jeans and ankle boots. The coat is a 'relaxed fit' meaning its not too fitted allowing comfort without it being unflattering.
9. H&M Cape- £34.99
The Cape coat is one that returns every A/W in most high street and high end stores, this particular one from H&M is amazing value. The belted waist allows you to create a sharper silhouette which is great as some capes I've seen before can make you look completely shapeless and top heavy.
10. H&M Biker Jacket- £34.99
Finally the last Jacket from this post, this H&M navy biker jacket in woven fabric is simple but provides style and warmth and is the perfect length. Another bonus is the detachable pile collar meaning you can switch it up depending on your outfit.
