Summer Skincare
So as I'm writing this I'm on the plane back to England as I've been on holiday this past week. Although I'm wishing I was laying next to the pool like I have been doing every day I'm excited to come home and see all my family and friends! I decided to write about the importance of looking after your skin on holiday after realising just how much if a difference it makes.
To everyone, their skin should be their main priority on holiday even more so if you're naturally very fair like myself. However this summer I had to be even more careful than usual due to being on a course of tablets called Roaccutane which have a side effect of making my skin super sensitive to the sun and also very dry. I was very kindly sent a lot of amazing skin care products to use whilst I was on holiday to help protect my skin as well as possible. This was my first summer holiday without my parents so I thought it was going to be harder to remember to keep reapplying my sun cream as I'm so used to them telling me to do so however I found I burnt less than I have ever done before! Apart from burning my arms slightly I've done pretty well this summer so far, I've just returned to England as one big freckle instead.
But back to the products, firstly as much as people want to tan as dark as they possibly can burning your skin is so not worth it, I would much rather be pale with healthy skin than really brown/red and have damaged my skin. I use Nivea Sun invisible protection on my body however I did purchase it in factor 50 aswell but sometimes put 20 on my legs as they never really burn.
On my face I usually put on sun lotion however I found the Nivea one to be slightly oily so I used sun sense daily face in SPF 50 which is a matte finish so I didn't look greasy. I can not recommend this product enough, it's almost like a primer which leaves your skin feeling moisturiser and protected without making you look ridiculously shiny.
I never realised how important it was to use an SPF on your lips until recently but on holiday I made sure I smothered them in my Nivea sun protection in SPF30. On a night I used the Blistex Hydrating moisturiser which is seriously incredible, being on roacc makes my lips really dry but this is the best lip balm I've used so far, it stays on all night/day and thoroughly hydrates your lips.
Luckily I've still got plenty of each product left for my next holiday in two weeks so I'll be continuing with the same routine to make sure I don't burn whilst I'm away again!
Summer skincare is so important, love your picks. xx
