Spa Life

After a very stressful few months due to A-levels I was in much need of a Spa day to relax and feel refreshed, I was very kindly invited to try a heat and Ice experience package at The Titanic Spa in Huddersfield with my best friend Rachel. I'd heard quite a few people go on about how nice this spa was so I was excited to try it out myself!

We travelled to Huddersfield on a short 20 minute train journey from Leeds and then got a taxi from the station as the Spa is about a 10/15 minute drive away, hidden from the busy centre on the edge of the Pennines. Finally we arrived at the Spa which is a converted textiles mill and were greeted at reception by a lovely woman (so sorry I forgot her name!)  who showed us around the Spa and then handed us our locker bands, robes and slippers which were so unbelievably cosy! The main thing I loved as we were being shown around is that everyone walks around in their robes and slippers so you feel almost like you're at giant sleepover. We we're then showed to the changing rooms so we could put on our swimming costumes and robes and were told to make our way to the restaurant once done. At the restaurant we were offered canapés and asked to show our i.d so we could get a glass of champagne too however neither of us had i.d on us which wasn't a problem with us as we were perfectly fine with fresh orange however we did feel like the waitress was slightly rude to us when telling us we weren't able to receive a glass of champagne. The canapés weren't the nicest ones I've ever eaten I must admit, but then again I am quite fussy. One thing that I did think was a bit of a let down is that we weren't asked if we would like to know what the canapés actually were, yet the couple next to us who came for theirs later were told exactly what was in each one.

But moving on to the actual treatment, I'd done a bit of research and read some other reviews about the heat and Ice experience and from what I'd seen it looked different to anything I had heard of before! It consists of a giant room full of other smaller rooms leading off into different experiences. From super hot saunas to ice rooms where you rubbed crushed ice on your body to exfoliate, it was definitely different but at the same time so so relaxing. We were brave and took a dip in the ice plunge pool which was probably the coldest thing I've ever experienced in my life but your body quickly gets used to it after a while. I think my favourite room was the Herbal Infusion room which is 'designed to provide the warmth of a traditional steam bath coupled with the benefits of natural herbs and essential oils, honestly this room was incredible for my skin as I'd been suffering with dry skin on my arms, this completely changed that and even now a few weeks later my skin still feels alot softer! The Heat and Ice experience costs either £75 for all day use or £45 for 3 hours in the evening. I'd recommend anyone to go try this experience as it does wonders for your skin and completely relax's you, on top you can add extras such as massages or try the mud chamber which sounds like so much fun.
We ended our experience by spending about half an hour in the Relaxation lounge, I genuinely want a room in my house like this, it is incredible. I don't think I have ever felt so relaxed in my life whilst being in this room, it is full of bean bags and private bays with super soft loungers. There's relaxing music playing which almost sends you to sleep, then a reading area full of books and the latest magazines plus a really cute roaring fire.

I'd like to say a big thankyou to Titanic Spa for allowing me and Rachel to experience this evening, I will 100% be returning to the spa once I'm back from Uni!
