September Favourites
I literally haven't done a monthly favourites post in forever, but since they're my favourite posts to read & do I thought it was about time I posted one! Over the past month or so i've discovered a few new products which have made their way into my daily make up routine, plus a clothing item which is perfect for A/W.
Anyone who knows me, knows i love the Kardashians, so after reading a list of Kims makeup products I decided to try the L'oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid lipstick by Color Riche, which Kim used in the shade 'Nude Ballet'. I got three of these in 'Nude Ballet, Nude Vibrato' and 'Rose Melody'. I cannot recommend these enough, i'm not usually a lipgloss kind of girl but these are just as pigmented as a lipstick but have a really pretty shine without being sticky like most glosses. They're £8.99 each but at the minute Boots have L'oreal products on offer with buy one get one half price. I'm going to purchase a few more of these in brighter shades like 'Fuchsia Drama' and 'Tangerine Sonate'.
Kiko is a brand I’d discovered through Gabby @velvetgh0st, so whilst I was in London this Summer I decided to visit the store on Oxford Street. the store has a very similar look to Sephora, very organised and spacious enabling you to browse every single product they have to offer. I picked up 4 of the ‘Smart Lip Lipliners’ as I was on the hunt for some shades to match my MAC lipsticks, i got a dark purple/berry shade similar to MAC Rebel, a bright orange/red which resembles MAC Morange, then two pretty similar pink shades which reminded me of St Germain. I find having a lipliner on with a lipstick works much better than a lipstick alone, and at £2.50 each they are amazing quality for such a low price.
After returning to Leeds, I discovered a Kiko store had opened here too so I decided to pop in and see if there was anything else i wanted. I was in need of some new blushers so I got one I’d seen Gabby mention, the Glow Touch Lips & Cheeks and also the Rock Attraction blush in Guitar Rose. The Glow Touch blush is versatile as it can be used as a cream blusher or on the lips as a very pigmented balm, it’s a very light product so it’s really easy to blend on the cheeks and is perfectly paired with a liquid highlight like moonbeam by benefit. One of my other favourite purchases from KIKO was their basic eyeshadow, at £2.90 I wasn’t expecting it to be incredible, but after swatting it I was so surprised at how pigmented it was, it reminds me of MAC all the glitters, its a pretty shimmery champagne shade which works perfectly on its own or with a darker matte shade in the crease.
I was recently sent a sweatshirt from Sunspel clothing, a brand i'd been really interested to try, I'd heard of the brand but hadn't yet had a good look at their range. People think it's predominantly a menswear brand, but it does also definitely have some great clothing for ladies - which it has been making since the 1950s.
For those who don't know about Sunspel, they're a Northern English clothing brand that have been around since 1860. So as you'd expect, there's loads of emphasis on 'tradition' with these women's clothing lines including the likes of T-shirts, vests, shirts, knitwear, loopback sweats and trousers. There are also some great items that even men can't have - like dresses and skirts! Although Summer typically isn't sweater weather British weather can be freezing, so on colder nights I love to snuggle up in this, it's the best quality sweatshirt I've ever worn and I can already tell I will be living in it during the A/W months! Although the sweatshirt is definitely expensive at £105, it makes up for it in quality and comfort.
The last of my favourites products are from Soap and Glory, a brand that over the past 2 years or so has grown majorly with it's makeup. I picked up the lip product they're probably most known for, 'Sexy Mother Pucker' lipgloss in Clear, although this is quite possibly the stickiest lipgloss I've ever used, i genuinely notice a difference to the plumpness of my lips when I wear this which lasts for a few hours even after the lipgloss has come off. The second product I got was the Kick Ass concealer in Medium, I've seen so many people rave about this concealer so I decided to try it out myself since it was Buy one get one half price on all Soap and Glory products in Boots. I'm usually a medium in all concealers however this one is quite dark on me but once blended I think I can get away with it!
Comment below and let me know what your favourite products are at the moment!
I'm dying to try the L'Oreal lipsticks. I have my eye on the new reds!
